Video Summary
Ross Nakaji, an athletic trainer in strength and conditioning at Orthopedic Sports Therapy in Los Gatos, California, explains a physical therapy exercise for peroneal tendinopathy. He uses isometric contractions early in treatment by placing a resistance band around both feet and having the patient dorsiflex and evert the feet (up and out), then hold the position for 10–45 seconds. As symptoms improve, the exercise progresses to moving through a full range of motion sequence: dorsiflexion/eversion, then plantarflexion while lowering the chest toward the ground to lengthen the peroneal muscles. The sequence is repeated for 3 sets of 15, done 3–4 times per week.
